1 dead, 3 others critically injured after moving car catches fire in Odisha’s Nayagarh

Nayagarh: A man was killed and three more sustained grievous injuries today morning as a car in which they were travelling caught fire after the ill-fated vehicle rammed into a tree on the roadside near Jamusahi locality in Nayagarh district.

Identities of the deceased and injured persons have not been ascertained yet, a cop expressed.

According to a source, four persons were on their way from a place in neighbouring Chhattisgarh to Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri town to have Darshan of the Holy Trinity, when they met with a fatal accident leading to death and critical injuries.

On being informed, a team of police reached the spot and with the help of some locals rescued the four persons. The injured were rushed to the community health centre (CHC) in Dasapalla for treatment in critical condition. However, doctors in the health facility declared one of them ‘dead’. Three others are undergoing treatment in the hospital and are stated to be critical now.

“The road mishap occurred most probably for poor visibility due to dense fog,” an eyewitness said.

A team of local fire services personnel doused the flames after striving for half an hour.
