Koraput: A racket preparing fake matriculation certificates was earlier busted in Koraput district. Police today arrested one more person in connection with this case.

Based on the report of Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Koraput Division alleging that some of the candidates had used fake or forged matriculation certificates to get appointment as Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS), a Jeypore Town PS case (No-103, dated 05.04.2023, U/s 465/467/468/470/471/34 of the IPC was registered and subsequently an investigation was launched by CID-CB, Odisha in Cuttack.

A team of Crime Branch officers led by Deputy SP Anadi Charan Sethy probed into it.

During a detailed investigation, it was ascertained that the accused identified as Chhanda Charan Sahoo had forged the matriculation certificate and applied for the post of Gramin Dak Sevak by using the document, thereby depriving several genuine aspirants of their rights to get the jobs.

Hence, accused Chhanda Charan was considered liable for the offence and was arrested. He was forwarded to the court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) in Jeypore, later in the day.

Previously, seven other accused persons were arrested and forwarded in this case. Involvement of others behind the racket is under investigation, a senior Crime Branch official said.

It is pertinent to mention here that during the preceding year also, CID-CB had busted another racket preparing fake certificates in Bolangir district and has so far arrested 20 accused persons.
