Hatadihi: A student drowned today and one more went missing while taking a bath in Hadagarh dam on Salandi river under Soso police limits in Keonjhar district.
The two students are Soumyajit Nayak from Tihidi and Ishwar Das from Barapada. They are aged around 19 years, Soso police station IIC Bijay Bihari said.
According to a source, two youths from Tihidi and Barapada localities of Bhadrak district had come to the dam along with three others. The two students went to the river to take a bath and went missing. The body of one of them was traced and fished out from the river water by a team of Hatadihi fire services personnel following a frantic search. However, the other student is still missing.
The search operation was underway till the time when this report was filed.
It is pertinent to mention here that two students of Sambalpur University previously drowned while taking a bath in the Brahmani river at Vedavyas in Sundargarh district, on June 8.
The two deceased were identified as Rajat Sahu and Samiran Sukumar Nayak of the Institute of Information Technology. Rajat was a 2nd-Year student of the institute and was doing an internship.
Samiran was a resident of Patia locality in Bhubaneswar and was also doing an internship at the Computer Science and Engineering department of NIT in Rourkela.
