Tapang: Two youths went missing while they were making reels in the waterlogged stone quarry at Bada Saunlia in Tapang locality and this police limits in Khurda district, today afternoon.

Identities of the youths have not been ascertained yet, a senior cop of the local police station said.

According to a source, four youths had come to the waterlogged stone quarry. Two of them were making reels when the mishap occurred. The duo lost control of them, and fell into the water, and later went missing. Some locals who were present nearby noticed this and immediately informed police and fire services personnel about the incident.

The large waterlogged area which once happened to be a stone quarry is called by locals as 'blue lake’.

A police team along with ODRAF personnel reached the spot and launched a frantic search. One of the two youths was rescued by the ODRAF team after striving for more than an hour. However, the other youth has not been traced and is still missing. The stone quarry has deep water in it.

The search operation was underway till the time when this report was filed.
