10 pilgrims injured as 2 buses collide in Odisha’s Balasore

Bhubaneswar: At least 10 pilgrims were injured in a road mishap in Odisha’s Balasore district while travelling to the Holy City of Puri today.

The injured pilgrims were admitted to a hospital in Basta area of Balasore, sources said.

According to sources, a bus named ‘Jyoti Travels’ carrying at least 25 pilgrims from Bihar was on its way to Puri in the morning. Another bus named ‘Sayan Sayantika’ carrying around 40 devotees from West Bengal to Puri hit the first one from behind on the National Highway no. 60 near Bhelora in Balasore.

The incident took place when the driver of Jyoti Travels applied brakes suddenly to negotiate potholes on the road, sources said.

At least 10 passengers of both the buses were injured in the mishap and rushed to a hospital at Basta, said a local.

On being informed, the police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
