107 more hotels in Odisha capital served show cause notices

Cracking the whip on the violators, the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) has served show cause notices to 107 hotels in the capital city for not having waste treatment plants.

The recent strict action by the pollution board has lead to adherence of rules by the sealed hotels. Hotel Urmi and Arya Palace Hotel have already started work on their Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), while Panthanivas has sought two months time to set up the waste treatment plant. The three had appealed to the pollution board to grant them permission to operate which has been approved by the board.

Now 107 hotels that were cautioned earlier have been sent show cause notices and warned of strict action by the Board if the pollution norms are not fulfilled in the stipulated period.

Earlier eight hotels in the capital were sealed by the pollution board for not conforming to its norms. They are: Hotel Arya Palace and Nirmal Inn in Ashok Nagar and Bapuji Nagar-based Hotel Pelican , Hotel Urmee, Highway Inn, Hotel Sriya in Rasulgarh Square, Hotel Bari International in Nayapalli and Hotel Annapurna in Mancheswar.
