10th Ekamra Walks participants explore Odissi, temples, herbs in Odisha capital

Members of the 10th edition of Ekamra Walks, the heritage walk of the capital city of Odisha, had a wonderful surprise in store today, as they were treated with two wonderful recitals of Odissi by the students of Art Vision, the institute run by renowned Odissi and Chhau exponent, Guru Illeana Citaristi.
More than 20 members of the Ekamra Walks team received warm welcome from the veteran dancer.
Illeana, the Padma award winner, has kept her house with the blend of traditional Odishan architecture and style, incorporating an open stage into the building, where her disciples performed Dasamahavidya and Mangalacharan, two items in Odissi and mesmerized the visitors.
Today’s tour included four foreigners, two from France and two from United States of America and nearly 10 outside the state.
During the Odissi recital, the girls performed powerful dance drama under the supervision of their Guru Illeana, who has built her nice institute Art Vision, on the western banks of the holy Bindusagar, just opposite the famous medicinal plant garden, Ekamra Van.
While in Dasamahavidya, the dance students performed a dance drama on10 incarnations of Shakti, i.e.Kali, Tara, Sodoshi, Bhubaneswari, Chinnamasta, Vairavi, Dhumavati, Matangi, Bagalamukhi and Kamala, in Mangalacharan, they included Sthita Kamala, a dramatic adaptation of Gitagovinda, relating to Lord Krishna’s Leela.
The Ekamra Walks started at around 7 am from Mukteswar Temple and covered Parasurameswar, Swarnajaleswar, Kotitirtheswar, Bindusagar, Ananta Vasudev, LIngaraj, Chitrakarini, Suka-Sari Deula, Bindusagar Parikrama encircling the holy lake, Vaitaal Temple, Art Vision campus and ended at Ekamra Van to see the wonderful medicinal plant garden.
