11 places touch 40 deg Celsius as heatwave grips Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The coastal state of Odisha is reeling under the impact of heatwave as eleven stations touched the 40 degree Celsius mark, today.

According to the evening bulletin released by the Met Department, Titlagarh is at 43.5 degree Celsius, followed by Malkangiri and Bolangir recorded 42.5 degree Celsius and Jharsuguda at 42.4 degree Celsius.

Similarly, Bhawanipatna clocked 41.8 degree Celsius, Sambalpur at 41.6 degree Celsius, Hirakud at 41.2 degree Celsius and Sundergarh at 41 degree Celsius.

Phulbani, Sonepur and Angul touched 40.8, 40.2 and 40.1 degrees Celsius, respectively.

As many as eight stations in the state witnessed temperature above 40 degrees Celsius yesterday. The Regional Meteorological Centre had predicted that temperature is likely to rise by 2-3 degree Celsius across Odisha during the next couple of days.
