Baripada, Nov 5:
Normal life was thrown out of gear in Mayurbhanj district this morning following the 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh call by the BJP, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Bhanja Sena, Mayurbhanj District Bar Association and the CPI in protest against the gross apathy of the Odisha government in setting up of a government medical college and hospital in the district.
According to reports, vehicular traffic came to a grinding halt at Baripada town as the protestors blocked the National and State Highway.
Vehicular movement to several places of the district including Udala and Rairangpur was disrupted following the road blockade.
At Baripada, all business and trading establishments, banks and educational institutions have remained closed during the bandh.
