Odisha: 13-YO boy kills self as family stops him from playing mobile games

Koraput:  Mobile phone addiction has led to the death of another child in Odisha as a 13-year-old boy ended his life after his family did not allow him to play games.

The shocking incident has been reported from Gautam Nagar area in Koraput town.

The deceased identified as Manohar, son of one Shrinivas Rao, was a Class 8 student of St. Xavier’s High School. Post COVID-19 pandemic, he had been attending online classes on mobile phone. But eventually, he became addicted to mobile phone games and used to get reprimanded by his parents for the same.

Yesterday, when his parents snatched the mobile phone from him while he was glued to it, the teenager became aggressive. In a fit of rage, he locked himself in a room and hanged self from the ceiling with a Saree. After a while, his family members broke open the door to find him hanging from the ceiling. They rushed him to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital here in critical condition. Later, doctors declared him dead.

On receiving information, local police reached the spot and initiated an inquiry into the incident.
