14 houses gutted, nine families rendered homeless in Odisha

Cuttack: As many as nine families were rendered homeless after a major fire broke out at Kusunpur village under Kantapada Panchayat in Cuttack district last night.

However, no loss of life has been reported so in the mishap.

Reportedly, a total of 14 rooms were reduced to ashes in the massive fire.Though the exact cause behind the behind is yet to be ascertained, short circuit is suspected to have led to the fire. Two firefighting teams were later pressed into service to douse the flames.

“We are left helpless and forced to sleep under open sky. Whatever we had turned into ashes. Moreover, no administrative officials have reached here to help us, “said a victim.

“It was a major fire, it started from one house and quickly engulfed the neighboring houses causing massive damage,” stated another victim.
