14 more Omicron cases detected in Odisha; tally surges to 75

Bhubaneswar: With steep surge in daily COVID-19 cases in Odisha, 14 more persons were found to have been infected with Omicron variant of the deadly virus.

As many as 14 new Omicron cases were detected in the State, informed the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) to Odisha Health & Family Welfare Department.

With new Omicron cases, the total number of COVID cases due to the new variant rose to 75 in Odisha.

Of 14 new cases, 8 were local contacts and 6 were the foreign returnees, of them 3 have travel history to ‘at-risk’ country South Africa and one each from Norway, Qatar and Singapore respectively, shared the ILS.

On December 21, 2021, Odisha had reported two Omicron cases for the first time. Since the, daily COVID cases are on rise in the State.
