145 more Omicron cases found in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Another 145 cases of Omicron variant of Covid-19 has been detected across Odisha. This was informed by the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar to the State Health and Family Welfare Department today.

With the fresh cases of Omicron variant, the tally of new strain in the State mounted to 347.

The fresh Omicron cases were detected after genome sequencing of samples at the ILS, Bhubaneswar. Out of 249 community samples sequenced, 145 were found as Omicron positive. The samples were collected between January 9-January 16, 2022.

Earlier in the day, the Odisha government stated 11,607 persons in the State tested positive for COVID-19 during last 24 hours. So far, the number of Covid positive case in the state reached 11,67,094.
