Kendrapara: As many as 15 'Gori' (albino) crocodiles were found in Bhitarkanika National Park here in the district, the annual crocodile census report revealed.
As per the census report, out of total 1742 crocodiles, 15 albino or white crocodiles including three hatchlings were spotted in various water bodies on premises of Bhitarkanika. For the first time, a 14-16-ft-long male white crocodile was found near Gupti area.
The number of albino crocodile has increased this year than the previous year in the State, said crocodile expert Sudhakar Kar.
Notably, total 1742 estuarine crocodiles were sighted this year in Bhitarkanika. Last year, 1698 saltwater crocodiles were found in the wildlife sanctuary.
