15 injured as bus skids off road in Odisha’s Kalahandi

Bhubaneswar: At least 15 passengers were injured, including five critically, when a bus skidded off the road and fell into the nearby paddy field in Kalahandi district of Odisha today.

The passenger bus on its way to Barabandha from Bhawanipatna met with the mishap near Sirul at around 2 pm in the afternoon.

The bus skidded off the road and fell into the paddy field when the driver tried to save a biker who came from the opposite direction, sources said.

At least 15 passengers sustained injuries in the mishap. The condition of five passengers stated to be serious.

The locals rescued the injured passengers and rushed them to a Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kesinga.

Two of the injured passengers were later shifted to Kalahandi District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) after their condition deteriorated, sources added.

On being informed, the police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
