Surat: At least 15 persons were killed after a truck ran over labourers sleeping on a footpath at Kosamba in Gujarat’s Surat district in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The deceased were labourers hailing from Banswara district in Rajasthan. The truck collided with a sugarcane-laden tractor after which the driver of the truck lost control over the wheels. The truck then ran over the victims sleeping on the footpath.

Apart from the deaths, six people suffered injuries in the accident and have been hospitalised.
