Bhubaneswar: As many as 1528 persons in Odisha tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours taking  the state's total count to 47,455, informed the Government.

While 948 cases have been reported from different quarantine centres, remaining 580 are local contacts. Contact tracing and followup action is underway, said the Health and Family Welfare Department.

The fresh cases have been reported from 29 districts with Ganjam witnessing highest 233 cases followed by Khordha (218) and Sambalpur (168).

With the new cases, the number of active cases in the state rose to 15,334. However, 31,784 patients have recovered in the state so far.

In the last 24 hours,  19,083 swab samples were tested. So far 6,69,266 tests have been conducted in the state.
