15,982 examiners to evaluate HSC papers in Odisha

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) would engage a total of 15,982 examiners for evaluation of answer sheets of this year’s annual High School Certificate (HSC) examinations in Odisha which concluded on March 10.

BSE OdishaTalking to the media on Friday, BSE president Prof Dakshya Prasad Nanda said of the total 15,982 examiners, 12,267 assistant examiners, 2229 deputy examiners, 743 chief examiners and 743 scrutinisers would be engaged for evaluation in 743 HSC units and 32 Madhyama units.

Each unit will have a chief examiner, three assistant chief examiners and a scrutiniser. There will be 15 examiners for each subject while for Social Studies and Science, a maximum of 18 examiners would be engaged.

The evaluation would be held from 9.30 AM to 5 PM, Nanda said, adding that the Board has set a target to complete the evaluation in 8-10 days.

He also informed that the standard mark foil would be followed during evaluation. However, non-standard mark foil would be used at times when it is necessary.

In the standard mark foil, the examiners will only write the marks in numbers and words while in non-standard mark foil, they have to mention the roll number of the candidate, subject and marks awarded for each question.

The examiners have been asked to switch off their mobile phones before entering into the evaluation centre. They will be checked before leaving the centre, he added.

The BSE president said the Board this year has replaced 17 centre superintendents, expelled three centre superintendents and six invigilators for dereliction of duty.

Referring to the case in Khan Nagar High School where a student had taken the subjective paper to his home, Nanda said the Board, as per the order of the district collector, has shifted the centre to Nua Bazar High School where the evaluation would be conducted.

Besides, the collector has also asked the Board to assign two deputy directors to probe into the incident that took place at Khan Nagar High School, he added.

He, however, said the examiners who were shortlisted for evaluation at Khan Nagar High School, will now report at Nua Bazar High School.
