15th Bring Your Own Film Festival begins in Odisha’s Puri

Puri: The 15th edition of the annual Bring Your Own Film Festival (BYOFF) began today in Odisha’s Puri.

The five-day festival will take place at Hotel Pink House on the beach near Chakra Tirtha Road and it was expected that it will attract hundreds of filmmakers and film enthusiasts from across the globe.

Anyone who has made any film, or been a part of it, can bring it and participate, according to the organisers.

“It has emerged as only one of its kind film festival as there is no hierarchy, no competition, no juries and no awards,” said noted filmmaker Susant Mishra, who is also one of the organisers.

Various types of films are shown in makeshift tents by day and in the open air after sun down, right into the early hours.

This year the festival will offer a workshop on film making and other activities related to cinema.

The organisers of the festival urged the film viewers to contribute funds in order to make it bigger and better in the years to come. “Please help this unique film festival on the beach raise funds for its 15th edition, BYOFF 2018,” it said.

“The money raised would be used to purchase 1 projector, sponsor 10 film/art students, pay for sound & screen setup, provide filming and editing support for the Workshops and Make Your First Film (MYOFF) initiatives,” Sahu said.
