Konark: Amid nationwide lockdown for coronavirus outbreak, as many as 16 fishermen hailing from Konark area of Odisha's Puri district took the sea route to reach Chandrabhaga beach here from Visakhapatnam in a motorboat today.
According to reports, the fishermen were stranded at Tuni, about 30km from Visakhapatnam, after the commencement of the lockdown. Later, they bought a boat and decided to return to their native places.
After their arrival around 6 AM this morning, the local Tehsildar and other concerned officials took them to a Temporary Medical Camp (TMC) here, where they will be quarantined for 21 days as per the guidelines of the state government.
Their swab samples will be collected and sent for COVID-19 test, an official said.
