Khordha, Mar 18:

As many as 17 stone crusher mills were sealed for allegedly violating the pollution control rules in Khurda district yesterday.

The crusher mills were sealed during joint crackdown launched by Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) and Khurda district administration on illegal stone crusher units.

A team of OSPCB and employees of district administration headed by the Regional Officer of OSPCB conducted raid and sealed the units.

Police forces were deployed to avoid any untoward situation during the raid.

“This will continue against the crusher mills for violating the rules”, said the district administration.

The joint crackdown was launched after the crusher units in large scale in the district were detected violating the environmental norms.

Most of the sealed crusher units were set up illegally by not following environmental guidelines issued by the district collector and without permission of OSPCB, informed the district administration.
