18 child labourers rescued in Odisha’s Ganjam dist

In a joint drive against child labour, different agencies rescued 18 child labourers engaged in different establishments at Bhanjanagar in Odisha’s Ganjam district, official sources said today.

Sources said the child labourers were rescued from eight establishments during raids yesterday which included shops, hostels, motor garages and snacks manufacturing.

Child Protection Officer SK Sarangi said the minors were engaged in menial and hard jobs in hotels and other establishments. He said the rescued children will be rehabilitated properly.

Assistant Labour Officer, Bhanjanagar said that notices will be issued to the proprietors of the establishment who had engaged child labourers in violation of the law.
