19-day-old baby boy sold by parents in Odisha capital!

Bhubaneswar: While reports of selling of babies in different parts of Odisha had come to fore in the past, a similar incident has taken place in the capital city of the state as a couple allegedly sold their 19-day-old baby boy for Rs 10,000.

The accused couple reportedly sold their fifth child to a husband-wife duo of Bharatpur area on the outskirts of the city.

On being informed about the incident by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Khandagiri police initiated efforts to rescue the baby and detained the accused couple for questioning to ascertain whether they committed the offence or followed legal procedure regarding adoption.
