19 more students test COVID-19 positive after reopening of schools in Odisha

Jharsuguda: After reopening of schools across Odisha from January 8, as many as 19 students of both government and private schools tested positive for COVID-19 in Laikera area of Jharsuguda district.

Of total 775 Class-X students in 13 high schools (both state-run and private) under Laikera Block in Jharsuguda district, 19 have been found positive for the deadly virus in COVID test in 3 schools.

While 9 students of J.O High School, Sahaspur, have contracted the Corona infection, 8 students of Hemasagar High School, Pakelkhol and 2 students of K.B.J High School, Salhetikra, were tested positive for Coronavirus after reopening of schools.

Source said that total 335 students (43.22%) had attended the classes on the first day of reopening of schools on January 8. Subsequently, the attendance percentage of students increased in schools.

The infected students have been told to remain in home isolation and the school authorities have been asked to contact the health authorities regarding the Corona positive cases in schools, informed Additional Block Education Officer Bideshi Behera.
