2 chambers of BMC office sealed after staff and kin of senior official test COVID-19 positive

Bhubaneswar: Two chambers of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office have been sealed after a staff of a senior official and family member of one more senior official tested positive for COVID-19.

The two senior employees have been sent to 14-day quarantine as part of norms set by the State authorities.

According to BMC source, a peon designated had tested positive for the COVID-19 three days ago following which one chamber of the office where the Class-IV employee was performing his duties assigned by a senior official was sealed.

Similarly, one more chamber of a senior official in finance department of BMC was sealed after one of his family members was found positive for coronavirus. The two senior officials have bee sent on 14-day leave to contain spread of infection in the office.

However, the panic spread among other staff including peons, clerks, who had come in contact with those two senior officials at the office.
