2 cousin brothers meet watery grave while taking bath after Holi celebration

Pattamundai: Two cousin brothers drowned while taking bath after Holi celebration today at Brahmani River under Pattamundai block in Kendrapara district.

The deceased youths were identified as 43-year-old Sujit Das and 24-year-old Chinmaya Das, both of whom belonged to Debala village of Kesapur panchayat under Pattamundai police limits.

Some locals rescued the brother duo and rushed them to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

However, doctors at the government-run health facility later declared the youths as ‘dead’.

In another incident today, a youth named Sanjay Kumar Parida along with one of his friends had gone to Nuapatana Ghat of River Mahanadi near Choudwar in Cuttack district to take bath. Later while taking bath, Sanjay and his friend became unmindful and slipped into deep water.

A joint team of ODRAF and fire services personnel reached the spot after getting information about the mishap. However, Sanjay has not been traced yet and his friend was rescued after search.
