2 dead after car collides head-on with truck in Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: Two persons died on the spot as a car in which they were travelling had a head-on collision with a flower-laden truck near a bridge at Kuruda locality on the national highway under Sadar police limits in Balasore district, today.

The deceased were identified as Srikanta Panda and Mayadhar Raj. One of them belonged to Oupada and the other to Nilagiri in the district.

According to a source, the car was on its way from Balasore town towards Kuruda side and the truck was coming from the front when the fatal road mishap took place leading to the deaths.

“Both the vehicles were passing the bridge at speed. Drivers of the two vehicles lost control and the ill-fated car and truck collided with each other,” an eyewitness expressed.

However, the truck driver fled from the spot soon after the accident, the eyewitness added.

On being informed by some locals, Sadar police reached the spot and seized the bodies, and sent them to hospital for post-mortem. Police have initiated a probe to ascertain the cause of the accident.
