2 dead on the spot after car overturns following accident in Odisha’s Angul

Angul: Two women who happened to be mother and daughter died on the spot today afternoon as the car in which they were travelling along with a female relative turned turtle following a road mishap at Chheliapada near Khandahata on Angul-Athagarh road in Angul district.

Their relative sustained grievous injuries in the fatal road mishap and is undergoing treatment.

The woman who was driving the ill-fated car was identified as Sanjukta Pradhan and her mother as Durgabati Pradhan. Both, the mother-daughter duo died in the incident. Sanjukta was working in Angul collectorate. The injured was identified as Sanjukta’s sister-in-law.

The three were on their way from Angul to Athagarh in Cuttack district when they met with an accident. A speeding car coming from the front hit their car leading to the deaths on the spot, an eyewitness stated.

Some locals rescued the three women and immediately sent them to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Angul, where doctors declared Sanjukta and Durgabati ‘dead’.

On being informed, Angul Sadar police reached the spot and launched a probe.
