2 drivers dead after speeding trucks collide head-on in Odisha’s Sambalpur

Kuchinda: Two persons were killed today as the trucks they were driving had a head-on collision at Cheptiama on Badarama Ghati under Jamankira police limits in Sambalpur district.

Identities of the two deceased persons have not been ascertained yet, a senior official said.

According to the police source, the head of one of the drivers got detached from his body and he died on the spot following the fatal road mishap. The other driver was rescued by a team of fire services personnel and rushed to a nearby health facility, where he died while undergoing treatment.

An eyewitness said that the road mishap occurred due to poor visibility as it was raining heavily.

On being informed by locals, Jamankira police reached the accident site and seized the body. Police have registered a case and initiated a probe into the incident. The bodies were sent for post-mortem.
