2 hacked to death over past enmity in Odisha’s Ganjam

Bhubaneswar: A 30-year-old man and his cousin brother were hacked to death over previous enmity in Kabisuryanagar area of Odisha’s Ganjam district today.

The deceased have been identified as Mithun Bhuyian of Sunarijhola village under Kabisuryanagar police limits and his cousin Lipun Swain of Nuagada village under Hinjilicut police limits in Ganjam.

Mithun’s family has been engaged in an enmity with Janaki Bhuyian’s family of Sunarijhola for the last several days. Janaki’s family along with a few others attacked Mithun and Lipun with sharp weapons in the evening. The duo sustained grievous injuries in the attack, sources said.

The villagers rescued the injured duo and rushed them to the Kabisuryanagar Community Health Centre (CHC). The duo was later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital after their condition deteriorated. However, they were declared dead on arrival by the doctors at the premier health institute, sources added.

On being informed, the police reached the spot and began a probe into the incident.
