Only 2 heatstroke deaths so far: Odisha govt

While there are reports of at least 17 heatstroke deaths in Odisha, the state government, however, is willing to confirm only two cases.

Talking to the media today, deputy relief commissioner Pravat Mohapatra said, of  the 17 deaths reported so far, investigation into six cases has already been completed and two cases have been confirmed.

The death of the remaining four persons were due to ‘other causes’, he said.

“We are carrying out investigation in 11 more cases of reported heat-related deaths the results of which would be announced very soon”, Mohapatra said.
