2 including female constable dead, 1 critical as motorcycle rams into truck

Puri: Two persons including a female constable were killed on the spot and 1 more sustained grievous injuries after a motorcycle on which they were travelling hit a coal-laden truck from behind.

The fatal road mishap was reported today from near a petrol pump at Biragobindpur locality in Puri.

The two deceased were identified as female constable in Konark court Sushama Mishra and Suryakanta Sahu from Hotasahi in Sakhigopal locality of the district. The injured youth was identified as Sushama’s son Chinmaya Prasad Acharya.

According to an official in Sakhigopal police station, the road mishap took place on Puri-Bhubaneswar national highway. The three were on their way from Puri town to Sakhigopal after attending a funeral at Swargadwar here when they met with accident.

Son of the female constable Chinmaya was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack for treatment in critical condition.

Sakhigopal police seized the bodies and sent to hospital for post-mortem. Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a probe, the senior official said.
