Over 2 lakh Olive Ridley turtles at Odisha’s Gahirmatha to lay eggs

Kendrapara, Feb 22:
The nesting season of Olive Ridley turtles has begun at Odisha’s Gahirmatha in Kendrapara district. Over two lakh turtles have arrived on ashore for mass egg laying.
According to reports, the endangered species turtles have already been engaged in egg laying process at Babubali, Agarnashi beaches along the Bay of Bengal.
Hundreds of turtles have laid egg in last two days and mass egg laying process may begin at any moment.
For safe and smooth mass egg laying of the turtles a team has been formed under Gahirmatha Range Officer Subrat Kumar Patra and the team has kept a tight vigil over the situation.
