Cuttack: Two minor boys went missing today afternoon while they were taking bath in Mahanadi river near Naraj barrage on the outskirts of Cuttack. The two are students at a private school here.

Identities of the student duo have not been ascertained yet, a senior policeman expressed.

According to the police source, the students along with six friends had come to attend a meeting. They are students of Plus II 1st-year classes. Altogether, eight students went to Naraj near Siddheswar hill. As the river has inflated, the two could not keep control in deep water and slipped.

The bags and shoes of the students were found near a scooter parked on the riverbank.

On being informed, a joint team of fire services personnel from Barang and ODRAF reached the spot and launched a frantic search to trace out the youths, which is still underway.

“Two youths slipped deep into water and went missing,” an eyewitness expressed.
