Lahunipada: Two persons were killed and four others sustained grievous injuries today afternoon after the car in which they were travelling had a collision with a speeding truck near Sukhabandha on NH-520 under Kamarposh-Balang police limits in Sundargarh district.

The injured were rescued by some locals and rushed to a hospital in Rourkela for treatment.

According to a senior police official, six members of a family from Khamar locality of Angul district were on their way to attend a marriage ceremony when they met with an accident. At least two of them died on the spot. However, driver of the truck fled from the spot soon after the road mishap.

On being informed, Kamarposh-Balang police reached the spot and registered a case in this connection and launched a probe, which is underway. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem.
