2 separate incidents of firing in Odisha’s Sundargarh; three reported in two days

Sundargarh: A man sustained bullet injuries and another man had a close shave today in two separate incidents of firing in Sundargarh. However, three firing incidents were reported in the district in the last two days.

The first firing incident was reported from a place near Itama on the Biju Expressway under Badagaon police limits. The injured man was identified as Subash Nayak from Kiringisera locality under Kutra block.

The reason behind the firing has not been ascertained yet.

Subash was on his way driving a pick-up van to elsewhere in the district when he was intercepted by four unidentified miscreants. The accused reached near Subash by a car and opened fire at him. The victim sustained injuries on his lower jaw. He was admitted to a hospital in Rourkela for treatment.

On being informed, Badagaon police reached the spot and launched a probe.

In the second incident, seven youths allegedly detained a pick-up van near Kanika under Hemagira police limits. The victim identified as L Rohidas from Gulatha of Jogimal under Lephripada police limits was on his way along with two others and two bullocks when the accused threatened them and blank fired. Allegedly, the seven accused who claimed to be Bajrang Dal supporters alighted the trio from the van and later set it on fire.

Worth mentioning, a man had opened fire at his elder brother yesterday at Patakijoga under Kinjirikela police limits. The accused and the victim men are distant relatives.

The victim is undergoing treatment in SCB Hospital in Cuttack in critical condition.
