Bhubaneswar: The police today claimed to have cracked the murder case of a temple priest in Odisha’s Koraput district with the arrest of seven persons, including two women.
The accused persons had killed Ramesh Chandra Tripathy, a priest of Budhi Thakurani temple in Koraput, with a motive to loot his valuables, said an official of Koraput Town police.
Tripathy was found dead in his house located near the temple on November 8.
Tripathy’s body was found lying on the floor in a naked state with his hands tied. His belongings were found scattered around the house, sources said.
On being informed by the locals, Koraput Town police recovered the body and sent it for postmortem.
A scientific team was called in to assist the police in the probe.
