Kamakhyanagar: Two persons engaged at a construction site came in contact with a live wire (33 KV line) today morning at Aluajharan locality under Kamakhyanagar police limits in Dhenkanal district and later became critical. Their conditions are not out of danger now, a doctor treating them said.

Injured victims were identified as Jaga Mallik and Babuli Mallik, a senior cop of the local PS said.

According to a source, around 10 workers were engaged in iron rod binding at the under-construction house. Two of them were pulling a long iron rod when it came in contact with the electric wire leading to the fatal mishap. The two workers collapsed on the ground following the untoward incident.

Other workers at the site rescued the duo and admitted them to a health facility in Kamakhyanagar for treatment in critical condition. The injured were later shifted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Dhenkanal town after their condition deteriorated. They are undergoing treatment in the DHH hospital.

“The two unmindfully raised a long iron rod and got the jolt of electricity as their bodies were charged,” an eyewitness stated.
