2 workers critical in fire mishap at Vedanta-Facor plant in Randia, shifted to SCBMCH

Bhadrak: As many as two workers sustained grievous injuries today in an incident of fire that took place at Vedanta-Facor plant in Randia of Bhadrak.

The two workers were identified as Purna Chandra Sutar from Koranta and Bijay Kumar Behera from Randia localities in the district.

According to a police source, the two were working at the Plant site when the mishap occurred. Fire sparkles fell on them, all of a sudden, leaving the duo critically injured. Initially, they were rushed to Bhadrak district headquarters hospital (DHH) for treatment.

Later, they were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack after their condition deteriorated.

Tension has been prevailing in the area following the fire incident, the police official said.

A similar incident had occurred earlier in the unit owned by Vedanta-Facor, a month ago. The mishap then triggered tension after a worker received severe burn injuries due to fire sparkles falling on him.

The injured was shifted to SCBMCH in critical condition and later died while undergoing treatment.
