2 youths found dead on railway tracks near Jarati station in Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: The mutilated bodies of two youths were spotted today at around 7.40 am under mysterious circumstances while lying on the railway tracks near Jarati station in Koraput. However, one of the youths was alive for a few minutes but was critically injured when some locals noticed them.

It is yet to be ascertained whether this was a case of suicide, murder, or the youths were run over by a train.

On being asked by a local rescuer as to how many persons were there, the youth who was alive when spotted but died later said, “Four persons.” The youth succumbed while being taken to hospital.

“One of the youths was alive when we spotted the two and he died later on. We also saw a country-made firearm lying near the body of a youth. The body parts were lying scattered on the railway tracks,” an eyewitness stated.

A team of the Government Railway Police (GRP) reached the spot after being informed and initiated a detailed probe into the suspicious deaths. Police have registered an unnatural death (U/d) case in this connection.

“Identities of the two deceased have not been ascertained yet,” a GRP official said.
