2 youths meet watery grave while taking bath in Genguti river of Odisha’s Jajpur

Badachana: Two youths drowned to death while taking a bath in the Genguti river near Radhadeipur village under Badachana police limits of Jajpur district, today.

The deceased were identified as Amit Khandai and Malaya Nayak, who belonged to a nearby locality.

According to a senior official of Badachana police station, three youths, known to be friends, had come to the river in the morning. Unfortunately, two of the youths slipped deep into the water leading to the fatal mishap. Following a frantic search for a long time, they were rescued by some locals in critical condition and were immediately sent to a hospital in Badachana. However, the two youths later succumbed while undergoing treatment at the government-run health facility, the senior official expressed.

A pall of gloom descended on the locality after news of their untimely demise spread. Repeated cases of drowning are being reported from the same spot, some locals alleged.

Meanwhile, on being informed, Badachana police reached the spot and launched a probe.
