Rayagada: Two youths were killed yesterday at around 11.00 pm after being run over by a moving train at a spot in between Rayagada town and JKPur near Debadalaguda village in the district. Incensed locals had staged a Dharna (sit-in) demanding compensation for the untimely deaths, today morning.

However, the Dharna was withdrawn after adequate compensation was given to the deceased’s next of kin and the mortal remains were taken from the railway lines.

The deceased were identified as Sibana Kadraka and Amisirao Pulaka, who belonged to a nearby village.

According to a source, hundreds of locals had staged an agitation and held a ‘rail-roko’.
