According to reports, a private bus carrying nearly 40 passengers was on its way to Bhubaneswar from Bhuban via Kunchinda, Chandikhol and Cuttack when the right front tyre of the bus suddenly burst. As a result, the bus collided with the road divider and overturned near a toll gate at Sartala Chhak, about two km from Tangi.

The mishap took place at about 8.30 AM.

Following information, police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured passengers at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where the condition of a woman and a nine-year-old boy was stated to be critical.

The ill-fated bus, however, escaped a fatal mishap as a live wire was found just one feet away from the place where it overturned, eyewitnesses said.
