21 drunk drivers caught by Commissionerate Police in Odisha Capital, cases registered

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police-Bhubaneswar caught as many as 21 drunk drivers in the State Capital during a massive drive carried out on Saturday night, an official source said today.

At least 21 cases have been registered in this connection and 21 vehicles seized by police.

Acting on the direction of Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh, a massive drive against drunken driving is going on in different areas such as Cuttack Road, Nandankanan Road, Janapath Road, Lewis Road, Khandagiri Road, with officers and staff of the police stations concerned.

Accordingly, at night by 1.00 AM, cases were registered under Bharatpur, Badagada, Laxmisagar, Jatani, Khandagiri, Kharvel Nagar, and Sahid Nagar police stations along with the seizure of vehicles.

“Enforcement is being carried out in the city under the ‘Safe City Drive’ initiative. Twenty-one persons were apprehended for driving under the influence of alcohol and the drive to curb drunken driving activities will continue in the days ahead. Such people pose a threat to safe driving,” a senior cop stated.
