Burla/Jajpur: As many as 21 girl students of the VIMSAR and one state-run school tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha.

While fresh 12 COVID cases were detected from the VIMSAR, Burla, in Sambalpur district, 9 girl students were infected with COVID-19 at Dasarathpur area in Jajpur district.

"Of 12, two have been infected with Delta variant at the VIMSAR and remaining 10 have mild infection due to the same variant of COVID-19," informed VIMSAR Dean Prof. Jayashree Dora today, adding that the health condition of all infectees is stable.

In Jajpur, 9 students of the Kasturba Government Girls' High School, Dasarathpur, have contracted the COVID-19.

All the infectees have been put under isolation. As per the precautionary measures, all students and employees including teachers of the school have undergone COVID-19 test. If anyone's test report comes positive for COVID-19, we will immediately start treatment of that patient. This apart, sanitisation work has been carried out on the school premises to prevent further spread of the virus, said Chakravarti Singh Rathore, Jajpur Collector.

Meanwhile, 10 more students of Balipata Panchayat Girls' High School in Angul district have tested positive during antigen test.

The antigen test result of 10 girl students staying in a hostel came out positive. They have undergone RT-PCR test whose results are awaited, informed Siddharth Shankar Swain, Angul Collector.
