21 kg ganja seized from police vehicle in Odisha, Constable held

Sambalpur: The police seized 21 kg of ganja while being transported in a GRP vehicle late last night Rengali area of Sambalpur district.

Acting on a tip-off, the Sambalpur police was frisking vehicles near Ramapada Chhak in Rengali. However, the police personnel did not search a Bolero vehicle with an amber beacon.

Later the police team chased the Bolero vehicle for one and half kilometre out of suspicion and searched it. A total of 21 kg of ganja was recovered during the search.

Following this, the driver of the vehicle, Purna Chandra Patra of Bishipali village under Bonai police limits was arrested. He works as a Constable and Driver at the Jharsuguda GRP office.

Upon questioning, Patra said he drove from Boudh and was going towards Jharsuguda.
