25 places in Odisha record day temperatures above 40 Degrees Celsius; Titilagarh hottest with 45

Bhubaneswar: With the mercury plummeting at several places in Odisha and rainfall activities being witnessed in several districts of the State, at least 25 places sizzled due to maximum (day) temperatures above 40 Degrees Celsius, today.

Titilagarh town recorded the highest maximum temperature at 45.0 Degrees Celsius, followed by Boudh (44.6), Nuapada (44.4), Bolangir (44.3), Bhawanipatna, and Jharsuguda each (44.0), Baripada (43.8), Sonepur (43.5), Sambalpur (43.4), Keonjhar, Nayagarh, and Sundargarh each (43.0), Angul (42.9), Phulbani, and Rourkela each (42.6), Talcher (42.4), Hirakud (42.1), Malkangiri (42.0), Bargarh (41.6), Dhenkanal, and Jajpur each (41.5), Khordha (41.0), Bhadrak (40.8), Chandbali (40.4) and Chhatrapur (40.2). However, Kendrapada recorded the day temperature at 40.0 Degrees Celsius.

Temperature forecast: No large change in the maximum (day) temperature during the next 24 hours and a fall by 4°C to 6°C thereafter in subsequent 3 to 4 days at many places over the district of Odisha.

People are to take precautionary measures while going outside during the day hours between 1100 Hrs IST and 1500 Hrs IST, a special bulletin of the IMD regional centre in Bhubaneswar advised.
