‘25% residents of Odisha’s Rourkela developed antibodies against COVID-19’

Rourkela: Around 25% people of Rourkela city in Sundargarh district have developed antibodies against deadly COVID-19. This was informed by Additional Chief Secretary PK Mohapatra following a review meeting under chairmanship of Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy on COVID situation in Sundargarh district today.

As per a serological survey conducted by the RMRC last month in Rourkela city, 25% of its population have developed antibodies, he added.

Chief Secretary said due to better COVID management by the Sundargarh district administration the positivity rate is 8% in Rourkela city whereas the same remains at 1% in the district.

The number of fatalities due to COVID-19 in the district is at 40.

To create more awareness and ensure better COVID management, the district administration will launch a week-long jana sampark programme from Friday. Also, sixth round door-to-door survey of comorbid condition will be carried out in the district, the Chief Secretary stated.
