25 students of private college in Cuttack test COVID-19 positive in two days

Cuttack: With upsurge in COVID cases across the country, a private college in Cuttack city raised concern as 25 students of the education institution have tested positive for the deadly virus just in two days.

On Wednesday 12 students of a +2 science college were found positive for Coronavirus in the city. Yesterday, 13 more cases were detected in the same college.

In view of rise of the cases in the college, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has closed the college for 10 days.

According to reports, a day after 12 students were tested positive for COVID, the test had been conducted on 71 students, who had come in contact with the infected students, of which 13 were found positive.

The college has been shut for 10 days. While all the infected students have been quarantined in the college hostel, other students, who were found negative in the test, will be kept in isolation for next seven days, informed CMC Health Officer Dr. Satyabrat Mohapatra yesterday.

Source said that a few students of a private college located at Arunodaya Nagar locality under CMC had complained of cold, cough and fever. Following test, 12 students of them were found positive for Coronavirus on Wednesday. Initiating contact tracing process, the CMC collected swab samples from the students with Flu like symptoms.

Following detection of fresh cases in the college, a special team has been set up by the Health department to monitor the situation, informed Cuttack district COVID nodal officer Dr. Umesh Ray.
