25-year-old dream come true for ‘Pahada Ra Luha’ director Sabyasachi Mohapatra

Sabyasachi Mohapatra is a winner and there is no doubt about it. Last year for the 62nd National Awards, ace director Sabyasachi Mohapatra was awarded for his directorial movie Aadim Vichar (Ancient Justice) in the best Odiya movie category. This year he has again done his state proud by adding another feather to his cap. His movie ‘Pahada Ra Luha’ (Tears of Mountain) has been awarded the best Odiya movie in the best Odia movie category in the 63rd National Awards ceremony. And, it is a 25-year-old dream come true for Mohapatra.
The movie is based on the simple tribal people of Koraput and their tradition and culture that is undergoing change due to modernization. It is named ‘Pahada Ra Luha’ because the tribals live being dependant on the mountains and survive in its lap. The mountain is like their mother and weeps when her children face troubles. Hence the title of the movie justifies the trials and tribulations of the tribals. The movie has been shot in different locations across Andhra and Niyamgiri in Koraput district of Odisha.
Mohanpatra began shooting this movie 25 years ago and it has been his brain child since. “The village I shot in, 25 years ago does not exist today. The tribals who used bows and arrows, now wield guns,” said Mohapatra.This movie shows how dalals take the help of ministers to influence innocent tribal people to become Naxalites.This movie also deals with the solutions to get rid of the Naxal problems in Odisha.
The Movie is produced by Mohapatra Movie Magic Pvt. Ltd. Asrumochan Mohanty, Soumen Pujari & Swati Ray are in the lead roles. Mohapatra said, “I just want to make good films and believe in toiling hard in every department—be it script writing or post production.”
